The VTech SN5307 is a cordless accessory handset designed to make phone calls simpler for persons living with dementia or memory loss. It lets you assign a photo to each of four speed-dial buttons, so your loved one can call family members just by pressing a familiar face. A flashing visual ringer on top of the handset and an audible caller announcement help ensure incoming calls are noticed. The handset also features large-character display, a built-in full-duplex speakerphone for hands-free conversations, and a charging cradle. All programming can be done remotely by a caregiver before the handset is delivered. Requires a VTech SN5127 or SN5147 base phone (sold separately).

Staying connected by phone is important for older adults, but standard phones can become confusing for a person living with dementia. Remembering phone numbers, scrolling through contacts, or even recognizing who is calling can all become barriers. Photo-dial phones remove those barriers by replacing numbers with faces.

We chose the VTech SN5307 because it integrates directly with the VTech CareLine system (SN5127 and SN5147), allowing caregivers to expand coverage to additional rooms without a separate phone line. The four photo buttons make outgoing calls straightforward, and the visual ringer plus caller announce feature help with incoming calls. It can be fully programmed by a caregiver before it reaches the person using it, so setup requires nothing more than plugging in the charging base.

  • Insert printed photos (wallet-size or smaller) into the four photo slots on the handset.
  • Program each photo button with the corresponding contact number through the base unit menu.
  • Place the handset in its charging cradle and allow a full initial charge before first use.
  • Wipe the handset with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or submerge in water.
