The Joe & Bella Everyday Side-Zip Pants are adaptive men's pants with full-length zippers running from waist to ankle on both sides, allowing the pants to open completely flat for easy dressing while seated, lying down, or standing. This makes them practical for persons living with dementia, Parkinson's, or limited mobility, and significantly easier for caregivers assisting with dressing. The pants feature a stretch elastic waistband with no buttons or fly to manage, a flattering tapered leg, and 4-way stretch fabric (88% nylon, 12% spandex) that is moisture-wicking, wrinkle-resistant, and durable enough for industrial washing.

Putting on pants is one of the most physically demanding parts of the dressing routine, especially for a person who has difficulty standing, bending, or balancing. Traditional pants require the person to step into each leg, pull the waistband up over the hips, and then fasten a button and zipper. For someone living with dementia who resists being moved, or for a caregiver trying to dress someone in a wheelchair or in bed, every one of those steps is a challenge.

The Joe & Bella Everyday Side-Zip Pants open completely flat thanks to full-length zippers on both sides. The caregiver can lay the pants under or around the person, position the legs, and zip up - all without needing to lift, roll, or pull the person into a standing position. The stretch elastic waistband eliminates buttons and a fly entirely. For the person dressing independently, the side zippers also make it possible to step in or pull the pants on with less bending and reaching.

What sets these apart from most adaptive pants is that they do not look adaptive. The tapered leg gives them a clean, modern silhouette. The zippers lie flat and are not visible when closed. The nylon-spandex fabric has 4-way stretch, resists wrinkles, and wicks moisture, so the pants hold their shape and stay comfortable all day. They are also rated for industrial washing, which matters for care communities and families doing frequent laundry. From the outside, they look like a sharp pair of everyday trousers.

To dress while seated or lying down: unzip both side zippers fully so the pants open flat. Lay the pants under or around the person, position each leg, then zip up both sides from ankle to waist.

To dress while standing: unzip one or both sides, step into the pants, and zip up.

To remove: unzip both sides and slide the pants away. No need to pull them down over the hips.

Close all zippers before placing the pants in the washing machine to prevent snagging.

Machine wash cold. Tumble dry on low or air dry.

Do not iron. Do not dry clean.

If between sizes, Joe & Bella recommends sizing down for the best fit.
