Product Details

Available in French only. Volume 2 is available in English.

Spark your mind, Vol. 1 is a cognitive activity book designed for people living with moderate cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer's. Ir includes more than 30 adapted activities and games built around relevant themes and an appropriate level of difficulty for the moderate stage.

Volume 1 also includes a practical caregiver guide with expert health advice and tips for facilitating activities with a loved one. The activities are designed to stimulate memory, encourage conversation, and create moments of connection between the person living with cognitive impairment and the people around them.

  • Spark your mind Vol. 1 is suitable for people living with moderate cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer's, who benefit from structured, adapted activities.
  • Spark your mind Vol. 1 is suitable for family caregivers looking for a ready-to-use activity resource to share with a loved one.
  • Spark your mind Vol. 1 is suitable for professional caregivers seeking adapted group or one-on-one activity materials in French.

Finding activities that are genuinely appropriate for the moderate stage of cognitive impairment is one of the more practical challenges caregivers face. Activities that are too complex cause frustration, while those that feel childish can affect dignity. The right activity hits a balance — familiar enough to engage, structured enough to guide, and meaningful enough to spark a real moment of connection.

Spark your mind was developed with that balance in mind. The themes are relevant to the lived experience of older adults, and the difficulty level was calibrated specifically for the moderate stage. The inclusion of a caregiver guide in Volume 1 also makes it a stronger resource for family members who are new to facilitating activities and want practical, expert-backed guidance alongside the content itself.

Tips for Completing the activities

  • Choose Your Moment: Experts generally recommend doing these activities and games in the morning, between 9 and 10 a.m., when concentration is at its highest.
  • Offer Encouragement and Support: If the person you are accompanying is not able to do the activity, enjoy the time you have together and discuss the pictures, or move on to another activity.
  • Ask Open-Ended Questions and Adapt the Activity if Needed: Use a sheet of paper to hide a part of the game if the person seems distracted by the items on the page or if the activity is too long for them. Use a pencil and an eraser; feel free to erase and start again!
  • Trust Yourself! Taking time to do activities is very valuable. The most important thing is to have fun!

This book was recommended to me by the Alzheimer Society of the Laurentians. A book that manages to captivate the interest of a person suffering from this disease. It keeps her busy from time to time.

Thank you for this wonderful tool!

The notebook is accessible to her, but she needs to be accompanied. This allows her to rack her brains.

Ce livre ne correspond pas à nos besoins car très de base pour le niveau auquel nous sommes. Peut-être sera-t-il d’actualité plus tard.

This notebook was too easy for my mother. Besides, she wouldn't like it if it said "Alzheimer's patients" on it. I gave it to someone whose loved one was in a more advanced stage.

Very relevant. I would have liked more pages, i.e. more exercises.

It helps to identify my mother's strengths and weaknesses. She's already done some of the easier exercises on her own at home. When I'm there, she's thrilled to be able to do the ones that at first seem out of her reach. She fills them in with lead, so that it's possible to erase them all and start again, because memory is what's at stake here. The other faculties still seem to be good, and the notebooks exercise them.

Very good book. I would like to know if you have other books of the same kind. It helps my mother a lot to make games, despite her little memory problems.

Thank you for your help!

Hello, I just ordered #2.
I live far away from my mother and was able to do many of the exercises over the phone with her. (I had ordered a copy for myself too!) It allowed us to exchange more than just news and it made her very happy. I will continue to look for activities like this to do with her. Thank you!

I was hesitant at first ,but my dad has a lot of interest in this activity book. We will definitely get volume 2. Thank you!

My mother uses the notebook with my father when she visits him at the CHSLD.
She is delighted with the quality of the product (the look of the notebook) and its usefulness. My father would have liked to participate in the activities they did together.

Like volume 2, this book is intended for people with advanced Alzheimer's and not for my partner. This should be mentioned in the description before purchase. But for the advanced stage, yes, these are good books.

I wanted to share with you my comments on two books I bought and a puzzle for my sister-in-law who has Alseihmer's disease and is in a residence in Sherbrooke. I played some games with her and we did the puzzle together, I was impressed with her response to this cognitive challenge. She participated enthusiastically and particularly liked the additions and completing the sentences. I spoke to the residence management and lent them the two books and the puzzle and will follow up with the activity director to verify the interest of the residents. Were impressed with the quality of your products.

Thank you

I think the book is well done but unfortunately, my father who has fronto temporal dementia was not at all interested in doing the exercises in the book...
