Eugeria announces the Canadian launch of Lumeen VR

The Alzheimer Society of Montreal is among the first organizations in the country to adopt Lumeen, a virtual reality headset built with a caregiver-facing interface and a suite of content designed for the specific needs of people living with Alzheimer's disease or other neurocognitive disorders. The initiative marks the official Canadian launch of Lumeen, led by Eugeria, a Montreal-based company known for its rigorous approach to improving the quality of life of people living with cognitive disorders and those around them.

Technology built for and with the people it serves

While offering virtual reality to people living with neurocognitive disorders isn't a new idea, it does require a deep understanding of this specific population's needs. Unlike consumer VR headsets, Lumeen was built specifically to deliver immersive experiences in a therapeutic context.  

Content offered to people living with cognitive disorders is selected and adapted to provide meaningful stimulation — travel, nature, music, relaxation — without causing sensory overload. The goal: to bring back memories, stimulate cognitive function, and create positive emotions for the people using it.

The solution also stands out for its tablet-based control interface, which lets a family caregiver or care professional guide the experience in real time: choosing the content, adjusting the intensity, and seeing exactly what the person sees.
