Lumeen
An immersive vitual reality system developed for care environments.
Offer residents moments of calm and escape, right where they are.
Based on nearly 30 years of research into virtual reality, Lumeen provides a concrete way for care teams to bring the outside world back into the lives of people living with dementia.
Unlike the virtual reality headsets made for the general public, Lumeen is designed for care settings, with each experience chosen to soothe or delight the viewer without overwhelm.
- Three types of experiences: escape and travel, relaxation, and remembering
- Controlled via a tablet that can be connected to multiple headsets as well as cast on a television screen for group activities.
- The caregiver stays close throughout: choosing the content, adjusting the intensity, and seeing exactly what the resident sees, in real time.

The story and the research behind Lumeen
What started as a gift for a bedreidden grandmother now brightens the day of thousands of people.
Lumeen began in 2019, when brothers Corentin and Robin Metgy wanted to give their grandmother, bedridden in a nursing home, a few moments of escape. The result is a tool built not around technology for its own sake, but around the person wearing the headset.
That care shows up in the evidence, too. Nearly 30 years of research support virtual reality as a gentle way to ease pain, anxiety, and low mood, without leaning on medication. Lumeen's own studies, carried out with real residents in real nursing homes, echo the same story: less apathy, less pain, more positive interactions, and a lighter load for the caregivers supporting them.
Today, Lumeen is part of daily life in more than 900 care communities, across five countries.
FAQs
Lumeen is suitable older adults and people living with dementia or other cognitive disorders. Care teams use it in residential communities and hospitals, and families use it at home too.
The tablet shows exactly what the resident is seeing and lets the caregiver adjust the intensity as they go, so it's always a shared moment, never something a resident experiences alone.
It comes down to knowing the person. A caregiver picks a program and a scene based on what will bring comfort or joy in that moment, whether that's a familiar place, a calming scene, or an upbeat little adventure, and can adjust the intensity as the visit unfolds.
Just the Lumeen headset and its tablet. There's no wiring or internet connection to fuss with, and a session can start in under 10 seconds.
Rather than relying on medication, Lumeen offers a gentle redirection: a calming scene, a familiar memory, a soft distraction from what's hard in the moment. In Lumeen's own studies, this showed up as less apathy and more warm, positive interaction among residents.
Yes, and it's often at its best that way. The tablet can connect to several headsets at once, or be cast to a television so a whole room can share the experience together.
Not really. The tablet is simple enough for any caregiver to pick up. That said, Eugeria offers training built around each community, along with ongoing support by email and phone as necessary.
We offer two formats: 1-headset and 3-headset. Each format comes with one caregiver tablet and a carrying case.
