The founders and story behind Idem
When personal experience and clinical practice pointed to the same gap
Idem was founded by Valerie Larochelle and Dr. Quoc Dinh Nguyen, who both also lead Eugeria.
Valerie spent a decade in corporate strategy and industrial operations before turning to dementia care after watching her grandparents navigate dementia. Dr. Nguyen is a practicing geriatrician at the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM), who holds a Master's in Public Health from Harvard.
Between Valerie's family and Dr. Nguyen's patients, neither could find products truly designed for people living with dementia.
That gap became the foundation for Idem: technology built specifically around the daily realities of people living with dementia, developed with ongoing input from healthcare professionals and family caregivers, and tested to understand not just how it works, but the difference it makes.
