The founders and research behind Crdl

Designed from lived experience in dementia care

The CRDL was created by two friends, Dennis Schuivens and Jack Chen, while they were enrolled in the Master's program in Architecture and Design at the Sandberg Institute in the Netherlands. For their graduation project, they spent three months working at a care institution to explore how design could improve the quality of life for people with dementia.

After four years of testing and prototyping, the first CRDL was finally ready for production in 2016. The founders believe that all humans are intrinsically deeply connected and that care is more than a service; it is an act of compassion.
